Transport Canada Orders Detention of Boat Linked to Fatal B.C. Sinking
Transport Canada has ordered the detention of a boat operated by Top Vancouver Fishing Charter, the British Columbia company whose other vessel sank last month in a deadly incident near Vancouver.
The earlier sinking left one person dead and six others missing and presumed drowned.
Detention Order Posted on Vessel
The detention order is dated Thursday and was posted on the window of a 37-foot boat operated by the company.
Top Vancouver Fishing Charter’s other vessel, a 30-foot sister boat, sank in the Strait of Georgia on June 28.

Safety Deficiencies Cited
According to the order, the detained boat is being held because of alleged violations or safety deficiencies.
Transport Canada said the vessel was registered as a pleasure craft but was being used as a commercial passenger vessel.
The order also states that the boat was not properly registered or marked.
