Cadbury Recalls Dairy Milk Oreo Bar Over Undeclared Pistachio Risk
Cadbury has recalled certain Dairy Milk Oreo chocolate bars in Canada because they may contain pistachios that are not declared on the product packaging.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recall applies to Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo bars sold in 38-gram individual sizes and 12-pack formats.
Reported Allergic Reactions Linked to Product
Cadbury confirmed that reactions have been reported following the consumption of the affected chocolate bars. Pistachios can trigger severe allergic reactions in people who are allergic or sensitive to them.
Because pistachios are not listed as an ingredient on the packaging, consumers may be unaware of the potential risk.
CFIA Launches Food Safety Investigation
The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation into the issue. The agency warned that the investigation could result in additional products being recalled.
Officials are also confirming that retailers and other businesses are removing the recalled Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo bars from the Canadian marketplace.
What Consumers Should Do
People with a pistachio allergy or sensitivity should not consume the recalled chocolate bars, as doing so could cause a serious or potentially life-threatening reaction.
Affected products should either be:
- Returned to the store where they were purchased
- Safely thrown away
