Two Boys Missing After Being Swept Into Rapids at Manitoba Provincial Park
A large-scale search operation is continuing in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba, after two boys were swept into fast-moving rapids near Sturgeon Falls Trail at Nutimik Lake.
According to the Manitoba RCMP, officers responded to a report of a possible drowning at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. Nutimik Lake is located about 90 minutes east of Winnipeg.
Emergency Teams Launch Multi-Agency Search
When emergency crews arrived, they learned that the two boys, aged 10 and 13, had fallen into the powerful rapids.
A coordinated search involving water, land, and aerial resources was immediately launched. Responding agencies included local firefighters, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Manitoba Conservation officers, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART).
Search Continues
As of Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed that neither child had been located despite extensive searches conducted on the water and along nearby shorelines.
RCMP officials said search operations will continue, with both the Underwater Recovery Team and HEART remaining at the scene.
The search for the two missing boys remains ongoing as emergency responders continue their efforts across land, water, and air. Authorities have not released further information and are focused on locating the children.
