Two Cambridge Residents Killed
OPP said a 53-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man, both from Cambridge, Ontario, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their names have not been released in the initial report.
Three Others Taken to Hospital
Three other people were transported to hospital after the crash.
Police said their injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Highway Closed for Several Hours
Parts of Highway 401 eastbound were closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and police investigated the scene.
The affected lanes have since reopened.
