15-Year-Old Sought on Second-Degree Murder Charge in Fatal Hamilton Shooting

Hamilton police have identified a 15-year-old boy wanted in connection with a shooting that killed two teenagers and injured several others earlier this week.

Officers were called to a residence on Candlewood Drive, near Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway, at approximately 2:25 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

Police found 18-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli and 16-year-old Afef Binafif outside the property suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Police Believe Gunfire Was Exchanged

Det.-Sgt. Mike Ebert said at least six people were present in the area when an exchange of gunfire took place.

Investigators believe one person involved in the shooting had also participated in a bear spray incident shortly before midnight at a home near Barton Street East and Centennial Parkway North.

Police are examining whether the fatal shooting was carried out in retaliation for the earlier disturbance involving bear spray.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Rahziel Martin

In a Friday news release, Hamilton police confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for 15-year-old Rahziel Martin.

Authorities received temporary judicial permission under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to publish Martin’s name and photograph to help locate and arrest him.

Martin is wanted on two counts of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder involving a firearm. The charges remain allegations and have not been proven in court.

Suspect Encouraged to Surrender

Investigators have urged Martin to obtain legal advice and surrender to police.

Authorities also warned that anyone who knowingly helps him avoid arrest could face criminal charges.

Police said the victims’ families are mourning their deaths while investigators continue working to identify everyone involved and hold the person responsible accountable.

Public Asked to Provide Information

Anyone with information about Martin’s location or the circumstances surrounding the shooting is being asked to contact Hamilton police.

Information may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
