Man Dies From Injuries After Being Pinned Beneath Vehicle in Parking Lot
A 29-year-old man has died after being trapped beneath a pickup truck in a makeshift parking lot near Downsview Park during the VELD Music Festival.
Toronto police confirmed on Sunday that the victim later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the incident.
Collision Happened in Festival Parking Area
According to investigators, Toronto paramedics were flagged down at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday after reports that a pedestrian, who had been lying on the grass, was struck and pinned underneath a pickup truck in a parking area being used by festival attendees.
The 57-year-old driver remained at the scene following the collision.
Victim Succumbed to Critical Injuries
Emergency responders transported the injured man to a Toronto trauma centre in critical, life-threatening condition. Despite receiving medical treatment, he died on Sunday as a result of his injuries.
Police Seeking Witnesses and Video Footage
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area and may have captured the incident on security cameras or dashcams to come forward. Residents, businesses and motorists with relevant footage are encouraged to contact Toronto police to assist with the investigation.
