Man in His 60s Dies in Scuba Diving Incident Off West Vancouver, B.C.: Police
A man in his 60s has died following a scuba-diving emergency in the waters near Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver, British Columbia.
Emergency Reported Near Horseshoe Bay
West Vancouver police said officers were called to Whytecliff Park, located near the Horseshoe Bay neighbourhood, shortly before 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.
The emergency response began after authorities received a report that a scuba diver was in distress in the water.
Rescue Efforts Unsuccessful
Other divers at the scene attempted to assist the man before firefighters and air ambulance paramedics joined the rescue effort.
Despite their attempts to save him, the diver was pronounced dead at the scene.
No Suspicious Circumstances Identified
Police confirmed that the deceased man was in his 60s. Preliminary information has not revealed any signs of suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The BC Coroners Service is investigating the incident to determine the circumstances and official cause of death.
The fatal diving incident at Whytecliff Park remains under investigation. Police have indicated that the death does not appear suspicious based on the initial findings.
