Six Hospitalized Following Fire at Calgary Housing Complex
Six people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a housing complex in southeast Calgary on Sunday afternoon.
According to Calgary police, emergency crews were called to the 400 block of MacLeod Trail S.E. at approximately 12:25 p.m. after reports of a building fire.
Multiple Injuries Reported
The Calgary Fire Department said the blaze started in a single residential suite before causing damage throughout the building.
An EMS spokesperson told CBC News that one person was transported to hospital in critical condition, two others suffered serious injuries, and three people were listed in stable condition.
Investigation Underway
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire. The Calgary Fire Department continues to investigate the incident.
Other Fires Responded to on Sunday
Calgary firefighters also dealt with two additional fires on Sunday. One incident in the northwest community of Kensington damaged two garages and a power pole, while another large fire occurred at the Shepard Landfill and Eco Centre in southeast Calgary.
The southeast Calgary housing complex fire left six people hospitalized and caused significant damage to the building. Investigators are working to determine the cause as emergency crews continue to assess the incident. The day also saw firefighters respond to two other major fires across the city.
