Fire Damages Five Homes and Displaces Residents in Mississauga
A residential fire in Mississauga spread to several neighbouring homes on Saturday evening, forcing precautionary evacuations and leaving five properties with varying levels of damage.
Fire Reported Near Ruperts Gate Drive
Emergency services were called to the area of Ruperts Gate Drive and Russell View Road at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Nearby residents were temporarily evacuated while firefighters worked to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Fire crews eventually extinguished the flames.
Five Homes Affected by Blaze
Mississauga Fire confirmed that five residential units were impacted. The extent of the damage differed between the properties.
Residents are expected to be allowed back into their homes once investigators have completed their examination of the scene and confirmed that the area is safe.
Woman Taken to Hospital
Peel paramedics transported one woman to hospital with injuries initially described as serious but not life-threatening. Police later confirmed that she had been medically cleared.
No additional injuries were reported.
Fire Marshal Called to Investigate
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation, and the Office of the Fire Marshal was asked to attend the scene on Sunday.
Investigators are expected to examine the damaged homes and determine how the fire began and spread between the properties.
Road Closures Remain in Place
Several surrounding roads remained closed on Sunday morning, including:
- Glen Erin Drive at Middlebury Drive
- Ruperts Gate Drive at Russell View Road
Motorists were advised to avoid the neighbourhood while emergency crews and investigators continued working.
