How Much Rain Fell Across Ontario Last Night? Here Are the Totals Recorded in Several Communities

Regular rainfall has helped lawns and gardens across Ontario appear especially green and healthy this summer. However, many residents are now hoping for drier conditions after another period of intense overnight rain caused flooding in several communities.

Roads Flooded and Water Entered Homes

The heavy downpour left some roads covered in water and created difficult driving conditions. In certain areas, overwhelmed drainage systems also caused water to back up into residential properties.

The flooding added to concerns among homeowners who have experienced repeated rainfall throughout the season.

Yellow Rainfall Alerts Issued

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued several yellow-coded rainfall alerts on July 27 as a low-pressure weather system moved through southern Ontario.

The system produced significant thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain across the region, increasing the risk of localised flooding and water accumulation.

Although frequent rain has benefited Ontario’s gardens and lawns, the latest storms created problems for residents. Flooded roads and water entering homes highlighted the impact of intense rainfall across southern Ontario.
